How to protect yourself from scam emails and texts

Received an email or text that seems suspicious? Report it. Your reports enable Action Fraud to remove the emails and websites criminals use to commit fraud and cyber crime.

1: Forward suspicious emails to [email protected] . Send emails to this address that feel suspicious, even if you're not certain they're a scam - they can check.

2: Forward suspicious text messages to 7726 (it’s free of charge). Your provider can find out where the text came from and block or ban the sender.

3 - If you’ve lost money or provided personal information as a result of a phishing scam, notify your bank immediately and report it to Action Fraud at www.actionfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040.

About The Town (ATT) 'Creative Futures'

FREE weekly creative sessions held at ATT's community hub in the Concourse Shopping Centre, About the Town Central, Unit 44, WN8 6HB and will begin on 29th July 2024.

Session details for the younger age group:
From 9.30am-12.30pm for five weeks, the program for the younger age group focuses on mindfulness and art as therapeutic tools, encouraging children to express their emotions and develop communication skills through creative activities. Additionally, they will introduce local Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) to the children, fostering positive relationships and building trust with law enforcement in a friendly and informal setting.

  • Target Group: Year 5 and 6 primary school students, and Year 7 high school students
  • Activities: Mindfulness, Art Activities, Lunch, and Recreational Activities (pool, table tennis)

Please note there is just 12 places available for the younger group session.

Session details for older age group:
From 3pm-6pm for five weeks.

  • Target Group: High school students in years 8, 9, 10 and 11.
  • Activities: Advanced art forms such as anime, cartoon design, and comic book creation. Pizza and recreational time playing pool/table tennis included.

 Expected Outcomes for Older Children:

  • Artistic Self-Expression: Participants will develop their artistic skills in age-appropriate ways, such as anime, cartoon design, and comic book creation. This creative outlet can be a powerful tool for self-expression, helping them to articulate their thoughts and feelings constructively.
  • Creating a Safe Space: Providing a safe, welcoming environment where teens can relax, enjoy a meal, and engage in recreational activities like pool and table tennis will help keep them off the streets. This safe space is essential for their well-being and can reduce their risk of engaging in anti-social behaviour.

Please note there are just 8 places available for the older group session.
